AN AUSTRALIAN tribunal has rebuffed a young Singaporean who cited the hardship of obtaining an exit permit to travel out of Singapore as grounds for obtaining Australian citizenship.
Danial Abdul Kadir, 11, who applied through his father, had appealed to the tribunal after his initial bid had been rejected by Australia's Department of Immigration and Citizenship in January.
The Administrative Appeals Tribunal of Australia, in its decision last week, said he did not show evidence that applying for an exit permit would constitute 'significant hardship'.
